Section Ideas to Include in Your Newsletter Design

A good newsletter template is not only consisted of a good design, but also good sections to make your newsletter interesting.

I spend a lot of time studying successful newsletters and collected a list of section ideas for my own newsletter. Then I thought the list would be helpful to other people who want to start their own newsletter too.

So I decided to share it with you. Here they are...

#1. Table of Contents:

If your newsletter is consisted of more than 3 sections, a table of contents really help make your newsletter look professional and easy to read.

#2. Editor's Notes:

Your readers would love to hear more about your personal opinionion and life. It makes them feel they know you and then will be more excited about reading your newsletter.

This section is the best place to let your personality shine. Share your personal opinions, views, memories, and feelings here to establish a strong relationship with your readers.

#3. Featured Article:

This is the main part of your newsletter where you should provide a helpful article to your subscribers. So it's important that you focus on the quality of the content you provide here.

Here's a very helpful article to discover 10 powerful ideas on how to come up with article ideas that your readers will absolutely love.

#4. Guest Article:

You can make your newsletter even more valuable by publishing a helpful article from another expert in your field.

It's very easy to find free quality articles on the Internet. I personally use and recommend EzineArticles.com. It's a great resource to find tons of quality articles about any many various topics to publish in your newsletter for free.

#5. Google AdSense:

If you keep an archive of your past newsletter issues on your website, you can easily make a nice profit from it just by adding Google AdSense ads in your issues online.

If you're not very familiar with AdSense, just let me tell you that thousands of people are making a living online by putting AdSense ads on their websites.

#6. Ask the Editor:

Wouldn't you like to have your readers coming to you and handing you fantastic article ideas for your future issues?

Well, this section gives you the chance to let your readers know they can ask you any question they have about your newsletter subject.

Then you can choose the most common questions, answer them in an article, and publish it in your future issues.

It will also make your newsletter 'interactive' which creates loyal readers.

#7. Review a Helpful Product:

Your readers will appreciate an "honest" review about a helpful product that will save them time and money.

So if you know and use a helpful related ebook, software, or website, why not share your opinion with them?

#8. Quote of the Week/Month:

According to Wordtracker, over 17,500 people search for the word "quotes" every day. It clearly shows how much people love quotes and words of wisdom.

Quotes inspire and motivate people to enjoy their life and reach their dreams. So adding a quote to your every issue will make your newsletter more valuable.

#9. Joke of the Week/Month:

Did you know that over 48,500 people search for the word "jokes" every day?

By sharing a sweet joke in your every issue, you can bring a smile to your readers' faces.

People are sometimes tired from daily chores and hard work, so they will embrace any fun break you give to their mind.

#10. Recommended Resources:

You definitely know some helpful resources that your subscribers will benefit from. Why not share a couple of useful resources in every issue.

Your readers will appreciate your kindness with their trust and loyalty.

#11. Reader's Feedback:

When you provide quality content in your newsletter, you will always receive great feedbacks from your happy subscribers. You can publish one of them in your every issue.

#12. Survey of the Week/Month:

Looking for ideas to improve your newsletter? Why not simply ask your own readers about it? After all, they are the ones who know it the best.

Also they will be happy to share their opinions and suggestions with you. So simply ask!

#13. Contact the Editor:

To win your subscribers' trust and grwo your relationship with them, you should show them you're a real person - someone just like them whom they can reach by email and phone.

Providing your email address, phone number, and even your snail mail address is a very effective way to gain their trust.

#14. Unsubscribe Information:

This is one of the most essential parts of your newsletter. Your subscribers have the right to unsubscribe from your newsletter whenever they want.

And what's more, if they are not interested in reading your newsletter anymore, what's the use of sending it to them? They won't read it anyway.

So give them the instructions to unsubscribe respectfully.

#15. How to Subscribe:

Did you know that many people who are reading your newsletter are NOT your current subscribers?

Yes, many of them receive it from their friends and decide they want to subscribe. So just include a subscribe link at the bottom of your every issue to help them do it easily.
